A federal court in Massachusetts had held up the end of Temporary Protected Status for Ethiopia since 30 January 2026. The immigration agency published a new notice dated 18 August 2026 on ending this status for Ethiopia. It concerns Ethiopians already in the United States who hold this status. The notice does not confirm a new end date, and a court decision can still be appealed.
This is a court decision, not a change to the rules. It may be appealed, and the authority may not have changed what it publishes. Nothing to act on yet.
