On 16 September 2026 Portugal's immigration agency AIMA issued updated guidance setting out which documents non-EU family members of EU citizens must provide when applying for residence benefits. The agency warned that applications filed with out-of-date or incomplete documents can be refused. Anyone preparing such an application should check the current document list before filing.
