Proposed change
Norway proposes stricter checks on skilled worker permits, documents and job offers
On 30 October 2026, Norway's labour ministry opened a public consultation on proposed changes to skilled worker permits. The changes would allow the Directorate of Immigration to refuse applications when documents appear unreliable and are difficult to verify. They would also require electronic confirmation of job offers. The ministry says misuse was found in about 10 percent of skilled worker cases, including fake documents and job offers. These changes are proposals and are not yet in force.
This is an announcement, not a law. Nothing has changed yet, announced plans are often changed or dropped, and there is nothing to apply under until it is in force.
